I could reproduce this problem.
On my laptop (acer, windows 1803) with firefox version 64.0.2 it did also not work to create an event from 8pm to 2 am.
Could reproduce on Chrome Version 71.0.3578.98, Windows 10 64 bit.
It works with my laptop. My browser is Firefox Quantum 64.0.2 with a MacBook (MacOS High Sierra)

cannot reproduce problem using Safari 12.0.2 on MacOS 10.14.2

Searching email or events is usually more expensive than e.g. filtering already loaded folders or even contacts. So, it might be not fast enough. It may require some work to make sure it's responsive.

When resizing the window, the dividing line should adjust its position so that the day view is exactly split in half.
When scrolling down, one will see later hours of "a.m." and "p.m." times, respectively.
