Hard to find folder functions: example "delete folder" (Usetest experiences)
Open, LowPublic

Description

How to reproduce:
go to inbox
left column: different inbox folders

Screenshot (36).png (1×1 px, 147 KB)

Problem:
Most of the participant tried to delete the folder by doing a right click instead of clicking in the "Actions"-button at the bottom of the column. Even after realizing the right klick option doesn't work and they finally did click on "Actions", they didn't always go on to the folder-"administration". --> Function hard to find, to complicated. To many steps to get there.

Presumably it's the same problem with creating folders, change folder name etc.

Possible Solution:
include the "folder-action" option in the "right click" menu. there shouldn't be another drop down menu after clicking the "folder action"button --> different points in the "main"menu:
folder-actions (=opening folder administration menu)
"tag as"

no further submenu:

"Right click" should provide most of the options that are available via "actions"-> "administration":

New Folder
Delete Folder
Rename Folder
Folder Options (settings)

Realised the same problem but I think it is more of a general theme: the folder administration is not intuitive. "Right click" should provide most of the options that are available via "actions"-> "administration":

  • New Folder
  • Delete Folder
  • Rename Folder
  • Folder Options (settings)

You're right. I tried to include it in the ticket

All of my test persons had Problems to find the function.

I think there are two problems: one is to find the function; the other one is the consistency with right mouse click options.. therefore I opened a new ticket for the second problem (T3514)

I agree with you, @Catherine. Both of these two problems applied to all of my participants.

I agree too. All of my participants had the same problems.

Same here! Two of my participants made the same mistake. The ''Options''-Button on the right is misleading.

Two of my participants made these mistakes repeatedly, both in Task 6 and 8 - I too conclude that the folder menu is counterintuitive in general

Very important issue, all of my participants had this problem, too!!

@bohlender
I think we can move this ticket or do you need any more specifications?

I agree that folder management actions should be available here. It's just a lot of work. When we'll have them in the menu, they will appear also in the right-click menu.
