Too many steps to insert a picture in the email text
Open, LowPublic

Description

How to reproduce:
click on "Write E-mail" --> e-mail editor opens

Problem:
insert picture with Strg+V works but it doesn't work with "right click --> insert", so participants start searching for another option when they didn't try it with Strg+V:

f

especially number e) was unclear, so they didn't click on the selected picture again and the whole action didn't work out in the end

Possible Solution:
make it possible to insert a picture with right click
just skip step b) and e)

I agree. All of my participants search for a long time. But also try "right click".

I couldn't agree more. I think that e) makes the user think that this is the option for adding another picture

Also happened some of my participants. One of them end up dragging and dropping it from the desktop to the E-Mail.

Same for me.
One even got to the e) interface several times but did not realize what to do next.
I think the interfaces should be reduced to only b,d,f.

I had a similar ticket (see below).
My suggestion for step nr. e would be the following:

On the left side of the "Cancel" button, there should be a (green) button saying "continue" or anything similar. When this button is clicked, the same view should appear which currently appears when you click on the picture again.

______ whole ticket _____

How to reproduce:
Compose email, add picture inline

Actual results:
After selecting the picture in the Windows Explorer/Finder, image appears in the open window, but there is no button saying "Continue" or anything similar. (The button "add image" on the right only opens the Windows Explorer/Finder again in order to select another picture)

--> The user has to know somehow respectively "guess" that he needs to click on the picture again in order to proceed!
Not all users will have this idea. They expect a button which makes it obvious that this is the way to continue. Yet there is only a "cancel" a button.

Expected results:
On the left side of the "Cancel" button, there should be a (green) button saying "continue" or anything similar. When this button is clicked, the same view should appear which currently appears when you click on the picture again.

We're here limited by the TinyMCE editor functionality. We control the Select Image dialog, so I guess we could improve it a little bit. E.g. by automatically pre-selecting newly added image and adding "Continue" or "Insert" button. We could also see if TinyMCE provides an API to replace completely its Insert/Edit image dialog.

Sounds good!
