Function "Sort Mails by..." cannot be found
Open, LowPublic

Description

To sort mails by name or date the options button has to be clicked first. In the use tests this led to irritations.

Proposal:
The sorting function could be arranged in an own bar above the mail list. This would create a higher spacial proximity between the instrument (sorting function) and its location of impact (mail list) and therefore the mental connection would be more obvious. Furthermore the mails could be sorted e.g. by name just with one click on the name button (see screenshot). For more options (e.g. change from alphabetically increasing to decreasing) a click on the triangle button besides could open a corresponding drop down menu.

Very good idea about how to implement this function in a better way!

All my subjects had problems to find the sorting function (clicking on "options" below the email list, where the function is currently to be found, was the last thing they tried to do) and usually first tried to do it by clicking on the filter above the email list. This is apparently the place where people expect such a function and is precisely where you would place the "sort" function in your suggestion, so I support your idea.

This sounds like a really good enhancement !

looks like a good solution for more than one problem to me, too.
