I tried to create a birthday event to try out the filter function on the left side. But while creating that event, i couldn´t assign it to a specific birthday category. Furthermore, i couldn´t seem to find the option to create my own categories.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create an event
  2. Choose the category it should be assigned to

Actual result: No option of adding it.

Expected result: The option of adding it to the birthday category. Or better: to have 2 calendars and to be able to link them - an actual birthday calendar and a regular calendar with the category

I believe that "birthday" is a special calendar that is liked to the addressbook entries. So if you have a person in your addressbook and said entry has a birthday, the birthday should show up in your calendar.

@EsIsl can you try if that works?

I would like to have the option to add people to my Birthday Calender without adding them to my adressbook

@bohlender, Yes it does work when the contact is added to the addressbook. I mistook the birthday calendar for a specific sub-calendar that you can add birthdays to.

Is it okay, if I change the tikcet then?
Anyone else who would like to be able to add people without having them in their address book?

I would definitely prefer to be able to add people without having them in the address book necessarily, so I'm happy to keep the ticket and put it to "done".

I could not open the birthday calendar, and I would like to add these entries in my regular calendar to have all in one. Do you want to link the reguar calendar with the birthday calendar or do you want to add to the categories for entries the option "birthday"?

I think it would be best to link the 2, otherwise you have an actual birthday calendar and a regular calendar with the category, I think that would be confusing.
