Function "Signature" is more likely expected among the formatting options above the text field and therefore hard to find
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Compose new e-mail
  2. Look for the function to insert a signature

Actual results:
The button "Signature" to insert a signature is located in the function bar above the field "From".

Expected results:
All my participants were looking for the function "Signature" in the grey bar above the text field containing the formatting options so maybe the function should be offered there rather than above the field "From" which is further afar from the text field where the signature will appear.

Maybe really more intuitive to add the signature function among the formatting options, yet the email program also offers the possibility to compose emails only in "plain text" (without HTML options; see screenshot) and in this case the "add signature" function should still be available... I guess this is the reason why the "add signature" button is currently placed at the location where it is...

Personally, I don't like that there are two different menus for formatting. I suggest not giving the option to choose between html and plain text and choosing all formatting options from the same menu

@A.Sommerhoff
I don't think it's likely that the developers are going to change this, since I have the impression that offering options to individualize the program is a key feature of roundcube... And I personally also like writing simply "plain text". But of course one can still write only "plain text" even when the formatting options are offered above, so we could agree on placing the signature option there as well...

What do you mean, @bohlender ?

I agree that a placement next to the text field is preferable. It is not achievable with a justifiable effort though.
