Kolab's family of services should be extended with an XMPP server enabling instant messaging for its users.

The instant messaging functionality should be available with standard XMPP desktop clients as well as the web application where a web-based XMPP client should be tightly integrated with the existing user interface.

Rationale:
A modern collaboration solution needs to enable people to communicate in real-time in addition to the asynchronous medium of email. Instant messaging is being introduced in many companies and organizations. It would contribute significant value to Kolab if it had instant messaging built-in and integrated into the overall Kolab experience, so that no other dedicated solution is necessary.
