You may be aware that freenode has been suffering from a massive spam wave for over a week. Our channel, #kolab, is directly affected by this: it is drowning in hundreds of spam messages every day. Normal conversation is next to impossible.

A simple way to keep the spam out is to set the channel mode to +r so only registered users can write messages. Other channels have long adopted this practice. Please consider doing the same.
