It is possible to set a reminder for calendar events in the Kolab calendar in two ways:

• a popup message
• a sound

For the webclient, both of these options are only valid when user is logged in to the webclient.

For Kontact, the akonadi service have to run on the client for the reminders to show up.

It would be desirable to have a (central?) ability to set a reminder for an event that show up (at the selected time before the event) - even when the user is not logged in to any client.

One suggested solution is to have a reminder send out an email. A user would however need to be logged in to a client to read the email.
